Shotover River Management
The ORC and the Queenstown Lakes District Council have adopted a partnership strategy for works on the Shotover River Delta to minimise the likelihood of the Shotover River further restricting outflow from Lake Wakatipu when lake levels are high.
The main ORC initiatives are:
- Enlarging the effective delta area by removing exotic vegetation;
- Taking a more active role in gravel management and removing more gravel from the lower delta;
- Constructing a training line across the base of the delta. The project is subject to consents and funding.
