Policy Analyst
The Council is developing a number of initiatives to address water quality and quantity issues. If water management is your strong area of interest, then this position may appeal.
You will need to demonstrate understanding of how policies apply in practice, have been involved with using resource management policies and plans and have a relevant tertiary qualification. Your experience may be in agriculture, hydrology or soil sciences rather than traditional policy/planning - what we are looking for is innovation, enthusiasm, willingness to contribute to the team and the ability to apply strategic thinking. And, of course, you will need to be a very good communicator in writing, facilitating, listening and engaging with the public.

Hydrologist
Continuing the theme of water management from a science perspective: The main focus of this role is to provide scientific expertise and advice for catchment specific hydrological investigations, flood forecast modelling, minimum flow implementation and the processing and monitoring of resource consents.
You will need sound knowledge of natural and physical resource sciences, a proven scientific and analytical approach to interpreting hydrological data and information and a strong background in hydrological modelling. Relevant experience and well developed communication and presentation skills are called for as well as a tertiary qualification in an appropriate field.

Environmental Data Officer
Our day to day operations and planning for the future rely on accurate and robust environmental data. Your knowledge and understanding of water quality, hydrological processes and data management will help to provide efficient environmental data services for the Region. Other environmental data collected and reported on includes air, biological information and RMA and biosecurity compliance.
A tertiary qualification is desirable, preferably including study in one or more of water quality, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil or earth science, geochemistry, environmental science, engineering or a related field. You will need experience in database management along with very good computer skills and the ability to analyse data. Excellent communication skills are a must.
