HEAD OF LAKE WAKATIPU
COMMUNITY UPDATE 07 | MAY 2021
Tēna koutou katoa. Thank you for those who came along to our community events that were held on 7th and 8th April. We hope that you found the sessions a useful opportunity to learn and discuss about the future challenges and adaptation in light of our changing landscape and climate. Special thanks to QLDC, Civil Defence Emergency Management Otago, NIWA, Tonkin + Taylor and University of Canterbury for helping us make these events a success.
As a recap, on the 7th, there was a public presentation by Professor James Brasington from University of Canterbury, about the Dart and Rees Rivers, how they have been changing and may change in the future, and what hazards we might expect due to these changes.
On the 8th, we held a community adaptation discussion event, where people could come in to learn about what could happen to the environment at the head of Lake Wakatipu area in the future, and to discuss what future adaptation options might look like.
