Car Free Day comes to Queenstown with all day free buses on September 22

Media Release - 17 September 2019

Free buses are running all day across Queenstown and Arrowtown on Sunday 22 September as part of World Car Free Day 2019.

Otago Regional Council (ORC) Team Leader Public Transport Julian Phillips said the day was a great opportunity to explore the Wakatipu Basin.

“All buses in both our Dunedin and Wakatipu networks are free to ride for the whole day this Sunday. It’s a great chance for people who wouldn’t usually take the bus to hop on and explore the area.

“We’re hoping to see lots of people taking advantage of the free buses, or else leaving the car behind in favour of walking or cycling.”

Passengers can also access real time bus tracking in the Wakatipu network through ORC’s website: https://www.orc.govt.nz/public-transport/queenstown-buses
