Operations Analyst – Public Transport

Are you an experienced Operations, Data or Business Analyst looking to make the next move in your career? Perhaps you are a little light on experience, but are a Business graduate and an excel whizz. Are you looking for not only the satisfaction of a job well done, but also the satisfaction of doing a job that benefits your community too?

If you have answered yes to the above, then the Public Transport team at the Otago Regional Council may have just the role for you.

Our team is in expansion mode, and this newly created role is intended to support us in our drive to provide a seamless Public Transport service to the people of Otago. Focusing on our current and future technologies, we need your expertise in data collection, reporting and extracting information from our systems so that we can drive the continuous improvement of our public transport services. As well as ensuring our systems databases are maintained, and generating/writing reports from the data collected, you will also need to be capable of analysing the information available, and ultimately presenting it to both your team, ORC management so that we can continue to better understand our customers and their public transport preferences and habits.

As well as getting stuck into the data, this role will also see you liaising with our technology vendors and suppliers, troubleshooting where necessary – so a tech background would be an advantage. You will also find yourself having input into business cases, contract negotiations and other projects taking place in the transport team.

In addition to technical skills, the successful candidate will also have:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• The ability to both present and negotiate effectively
• The nous to work with staff at all levels of the organisation, as well as with key external stakeholders
• Self-management skills, finding motivation in challenge and change.

If this is all sounding like you, and you’re ready to make your next move, please apply today.
