Senior Policy Analyst

Our Policy and Planning team are excited to now be welcoming applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the role of Senior Policy Analyst, working with our Policy Planning and Resource Management Directorate contributing to Policy initiatives for the sustainable future of Otago.

The Opportunity

In this role you will use your abilities to think strategically and innovatively in the provision of quality planning advice to Council, drawing on your prior experience, knowledge and analytical skills to promote best practice planning for our beautiful region. You will be developing policies and plans promoting sustainable resource management in Otago, participating in planning at a national level and providing leadership to our region on matters pertaining to resource management.

About You

Contributing to our high-performance culture you will be a natural and inclusive leader, with facilitation and project leadership experience to match. You will be confident building relationships at all levels of our organisation, as well as with key external stakeholders and your peers at national forums. You will have a strong ‘customer-service’ ethos and be able to motivate yourself and others to ensure we are delivering great outcomes for our communities.

We have significant challenge and change ahead of us, with our upcoming focus on giving effect to the National Policy Statement on Freshwater Management, and an ever-heightening focus on sustainable environmental management. With respect to these up-coming initiatives, we are looking to appoint a candidate at a Senior level, so a tertiary qualification in Resource Management (or a related field) and significant experience working in this area is a requirement to be considered for this role.

By joining us, you can look forward to being part of a future focused and developing team. You will be supported by your Leaders to think ‘outside the box’ and take the lead on key projects directly impacting on the sustainable future of the Otago region.

If you’re motivated and ready for the next big challenge, we’d like to hear from you!
