Compliance Data Officer

The Opportunity

As a Compliance Data Officer, you will form a key link between consent holders and third-party data providers, as well as internally with the Compliance and Environmental Monitoring teams at the ORC. Your contributions will be measured by the relevance of the data, the quality and timeliness of the information provided, and when reporting, the tailoring of your communications to suit the level of understanding of your audience.

Your day-to-day role will entail processing and checking of daily incoming water metering data (800+ sites), and other compliance data, mostly in the form of monthly or yearly water quality analysis reports. You will also be analysing the quality and usefulness of the data and whether it meets the consents conditions, as well as archiving it. In collaboration with your team, you will review and maintain quality assurance procedures, and liaise with the relevant data providers and laboratories to ensure data is viable and fit-for-purpose. Nearly all consents are assessed on meeting their consent conditions on at least a yearly basis and you will also provide advice about the data so far received and the meaning and validity of it to the Environmental Officers who go out and do the on-site field visits.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a process oriented individual, with significant experience with data processing, preferably those relating to environmental types of data such as water quality analysis results and water metering. Ideally, you will come to us with an understanding of Hilltop (time series data) and/or Accela (consents administration and workflows software) or other similar systems, and some hands-on computer programming experience as well as familiarity with the RMA water metering regulations. You’ll be a team player, a confident negotiator, and have a desire to further your learning in the environmental data space.

If this all sounds like you, we are looking forward to receiving your application.
