Economic Analyst

The Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to undertake economic analysis, providing reports and making recommendations to support robust and informed Council decision-making. As the Economic Analyst, you will work to ensure an economic and/or business perspective on Council programmes and projects is available, accessible and tailored to support organisational needs. Your work programme will include economic modelling and scenario building to support the Strategic Plan, LTP and Regional Plans, as well as analysis and reporting on the economic drivers of agricultural and horticultural activity within the Otago region. This role would suit those with expertise in economics, public policy, and strategic thinking

About You

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Bachelor of Commerce, Economics or Agricultural Commerce.
• Extensive cost benefit and/or multi-criteria analysis experience.
• Experience in applied economic research and application.
• Knowledge and/or experience in financial planning skills and experience.
• Exceptional communication skills
