The Opportunity

As well as the cultural development underway across the organisation, there are exciting times ahead for the ORC Transport team; with the recent launch of the Dunedin Bus Hub, the imminent launch of a new bus ticketing system, and the constant and continuous improvement of public transport and transport planning services for our region.

The role of Manager Transport is a key leadership position at ORC, providing oversight to a broad remit of transport functions, such as transport planning, public transport operations, and the launch of a new bus ticketing system. The role has a high level of influence both internally, and with partner agencies across the Otago Region.

About You

To be successful as our Manager Transport, you will need to be flexible in your approach, people and customer centric, and committed to the alignment of yourself and your team to our organisational values. An adept relationship builder, you will have well developed political and commercial acumen, strong negotiating skills, and be comfortable operating, where needed, as an advocate for the Council’s interests.

Professionally, our preferred candidate will have;
• a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Operations Management, Public Policy (or another related field);
• significant leadership experience, both operational and strategic (5+ years);
• demonstrated experience working in operational public transport/transport planning environment (5+ years);
• understanding of/exposure to Local Government, ideally within a Regional Council.
