Project Delivery Specialist

At the Otago Regional Council (ORC), our mission is ‘for our future’. We’re here to protect and enhance the environment and enable our communities to do the same. To be sure we can deliver on our responsibilities, we are evolving as an organisation, and we’re not overstating when we say we have some really big targets to reach. We need the right people, in the right roles, to help us to get there.

The Opportunity

The Project Delivery Specialist is responsible for turning restoration and enhancement opportunities and needs into programmes of action. They will lead all phases of planning and delivery including defining scope and objectives, estimation of costs, determination of funding requirements and sources, investigation and evaluation of options, design, regulatory approvals, land access agreements, procurement and physical works.

About You

To be successful in this position you will need to be a highly skilled, experienced and effective project or programme manager, with a tertiary qualification [or significant comparable experience] in Water Quality Science, or Public Policy. You’ll be an expert relationship builder, engaging communicator, and able to influence and negotiate for significant outcomes. Using your sound judgement and problem-solving abilities, you’ll manage and mitigate risks across various projects, and take our team on the journey with you. A leader by nature, you’ll be able to achieve outcomes through others, forecasting project needs for both the now and the future.

We think Otago’s a pretty special place. It covers a vast area – the third largest local government region in New Zealand. Those who call Otago home enjoy access to mountains, coastal lowlands, dramatic rivers and wild beaches. Our environment here is part of who we are, and at ORC, we work each day to look after it.

If you share this passion and can align your skills and experience to what we’ve outlined above, we would love to hear from you!
