Senior Transport Planner

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Transport, the Senior Transport planner will be advising on strategic and operational improvements to the regional transport planning activities of Council, contributing to the direction of transport planning for the Otago region and future proofing our services.

You will be an engaging and adaptable individual, able to articulate Council transport strategy to a variety of stakeholder groups and provide excellent customer service to those internal and external to the organisation. You will represent Council at the local and central government levels, including TLA’s, ensuring that ORC is held in high regard for both its contributions and compliance to the Land Transport Management Act and Regional Transport Committee’s of the South Island.

Managing relationships with be a key part of this role, as will the contribution to regional transport policy for ORC, management of current and future infrastructure, and business planning with our transport providers. From time to time you will also be asked to assist in tender preparation and contractor management activities, ensuring that processes are compliant, and ORC is getting the best value service possible.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in managing complex projects and working within multi-disciplinary teams. You will be able to lead, motivate and engage project teams, understand, and apply transport legislation and engage with stakeholders at all levels. You will be an outcomes focused individual, with an excellent customer service ethic and innovative solutions to any challenge that comes your way.
