Water Plan Change 3A (Minimum flow for Taieri River at Tiroiti)

This Council notified Proposed Plan Change 3A (Minimum Flow for Taieri River at Tiroiti) on Saturday 26 June 2010. A hearing of submissions was held on 24 September 2010. Decisions were released on 11 December 2010.

Plan Change 3A was approved on 30 March 2011 and is operative from 1 May 2011.

Summary of Proposed Plan Change 3A (Minimum Flow for Taieri River at Tiroiti)

This Council notified Proposed Plan Change 3A (Minimum Flow for Taieri River at Tiroiti) on Saturday 26 June 2010. The purpose of Proposed Plan Change 3A (Minimum Flow for Taieri River at Tiroiti) is to add an additional minimum flow and monitoring site using the existing Tiroiti flow recorder. A minimum flow of 1150 l/s was proposed. The decision to set the minimum flow at Tiroiti at 1100 l/s has not been appealed.

The Summary of Decisions Requested was released on Saturday 14 August 2010. Further submissions closed on 27 August 2010. The hearing of submissions was held on 24 September 2010 and the Hearing Committee has considered the decisions. Council has made its decision. Decisions were notified on 11 December 2010.

Next steps in the process

Otago Regional Council has given its decisions on Proposed Plan Change 3A (Minimum Flow for Taieri River at Tiroiti). As there have been no appeals made, Plan Change 3A is effectively operative. Council will notify in April 2011 when it is to be made fully operative.
