Dunedin Events

Enjoy the event without parking stress - catch a bus!

Dunedin hosts a number of large events throughout the year. We have music concerts and sports games at Forsyth Barr Stadium, international shows at the Town Hall, shows around the Octagon, as well community festivals all over Dunedin. Parking is at a premium during these events and the roads become very congested.

Catch the bus!

  • The Dunedin Orbus network connects across the city via the central city Bus Hub.
  • The Bus Hub is approximately a 20-minute walk to Forsyth Barr Stadium, and a 5-minute walk to the Octagon.
  • For major stadium events, you often still have to walk between 10 and 20 minutes from a carpark to get to the stadium.
  • Car parks near major central city events are hard to come by!
  • There are Dunedin City Council shuttles running from the central city to Forsyth Barr for major events.
  • Depending on the day of week and time the event ends, you can catch an Orbus bus home.
  • For many events, the Dunedin City Council or Otago Regional Council provide free or gold coin-donation buses home. These run on three special routes to the Northern suburbs, Southern Dunedin and a more direct service to Mosgiel.
  • It's fun catching a bus to and from the event with fellow event goers.
  • If you have a Bee Card, you get discounted travel. SuperGold card holders and children get additional discounts.
  • If you’re not from the city, you can let your navigate the roads for you.
