🚍 Improved Capacity from Sunshine Bay to Frankton Hub via town from Monday 15th August 🚍

Valid from Monday, Aug 15, 2022 6:00 AM

Route 1 capacity on the 7.40am and 8.10am morning services from Sunshine Bay to Frankton are pretty full up. Working with Ritchies, we’ve made a small change to add more capacity for passengers, especially for Wakatipu High School students.
Please take note of the changes starting this coming Monday 15 August (because of the timing of this change, we have not been able to update the timetable or tracking at this stage).
- On weekday mornings, route 5 toward Lake Hayes, usually departing from Stanley St, will now depart from Treetops in Sunshine Bay at 7:55am, picking up all passengers at stops on the way, and travelling past Stanley Street at around 8am as usual.
- Route 1 Sunshine Bay to Remarkables Park will still depart at 7.40am and 8.10am.
- These three morning peak services travel from Sunshine Bay through Stanley Street to Frankton Hub.
- WHS students and passengers for the airport can then transfer at Frankton Hub to route 3, departing at 8.20am. Route 3 will go past the airport. in the mornings. It may be possible to transfer to Route 1 at the Frankton Hub, but this bus may still have capacity constraints at this point.
To recap:
• You can now also catch the number 5 service from Treetops (departs at 7.55am) to get to town or Frankton Hub.
• This Treetops 7:55am Route 5 addition will run on weekdays only until further notice.
• Both route 1 and 5 travel between Stanley St and Frankton Hub.
• Route 3 toward Kelvin Heights (via Wakatipu High and the Airport) departs from Frankton Hub at 8.20am and should provide a good connection.
We’ll keep an eye on this change and capacity before we decide if this is temporary during the reduced timetable or permanent. Let us know what you think about this particular service.
