The rates estimation below is based on the proposed Annual Plan 2023-24. Your rates will be levied and arrive in your mailbox or inbox in September 2023.

Disclaimer: This is the estimated rates position based on property values as at 31 January 2023 for the Otago region. It is likely that the estimated rate in the dollar will change due to movements in the property value between 31 January 2023 and 30 June 2023. 

Rates for the 2023/2024 period will be calculated based on the property value as at 30 June 2023.

The following known circumstances will impact the property valuations in the period 31 January 2023 to 30 June 2023:

• Central Otago District revaluation performed every 3 years
• Dunedin City Council valuation changes due to upheld objections

The impact of changes in property valuations is likely to be greater in smaller targeted rating schemes due to the smaller number of properties in those schemes.
