Fares

Fares are part of a trial to be reviewed toward the end of 2020. From January 2021, Orbus may revert to a five-zone network with zone charges.

Until this time, fares in Dunedin are as follows:

Adult

$2

$3

Child (5 - 18 years)*

$1.20

$3

Child (under 5)

SuperGold*

* Concessions

To get a concession discount you need to register your Bee Card and input your birthdate at www.beecard.co.nz.

Once it’s on there, you won’t need to show the driver your ID or SuperGold card. You just tag on and off, and the system will recognise your concession discount.

If you’re 5-18 years old, you will need to load your concession to get the discounted fare.

SuperGold Card holders travel free all day on buses until the end of the year as part of the flat fare trial.

Even though travel is free, we encourage you to get a Bee Card and load your gold card details both so we can better understand where and when SuperGold Card holders travel, but also for if we return to 9am-3pm off peak free travel.

Even under Alert Level 2, we can help you register the card and load your concession at our offices located at 70 Stafford Street and 144 Rattray Street, Level 2, Philip Laing House.

For some folks, it's a bit harder to get out and about. Don't worry, we are working with retirement homes, support agencies and other means to get a card in your hands and help you get registered.

Feel free to call us on 0800 ORBUSDN (0800 672 8736) to talk to us and get some assistance to 'Bee' ready.

Bee Cards

Bee Cards are a great way to get the most out of your journey – you pay less than a cash fare and get a free transfer within 45 minutes of getting off.  There’s no need to let your driver know you’re transferring. If you follow these steps everything should go smoothly:

Step one: Tag onto your first bus

Step two: Tag off your first bus

Step three: Tag onto your next bus within 45 minutes of tagging off the first bus

Step four: Tag off your second bus to close the transaction
