Orbus On Demand will replace the Mosgiel loop bus service on routes 80 and 81 from Monday 30 June 2025.
Orbus On Demand is a bookable rideshare service for Mosgiel, Wingatui, East Taieri and Kinmont.
As a corner-to-corner rideshare service you will need to walk to and from your pick-up and drop-off location. The Orbus On Demand app will be the best way to book and manage your trips. The app will use smart technology to direct you to the shortest walking route. Rideshare means you may share your trip with other customers travelling from the same direction.
Through the app you can repeat common trips and update or cancel bookings. It will notify you when the driver is on the way and has arrived to pick you up. The app has many other features to make booking easy. The app and its user guide will be available before the service launches so you can get set up and ready to go. We will keep you updated on this page when these are available.
If you can’t or don’t want to use the app, you will be able to book Orbus On Demand by phoning our friendly customer services team, but notifications and updates will not be available on phone bookings. We encourage you to use the app if you can for the best experience.
We will keep you updated as Orbus prepares for the changeover.

Unfortunately not. Just like any bus service, you need to be at the pick-up point at the arranged time. We recommend you arrive a minimum of two minutes ahead of your pick-up time.
Using the app, you can see when the vehicle is approaching and will be notified the vehicle is on the way. The driver can only wait for two minutes at the pick-up point to ensure all other booked trips run on time.
Please be at the pick-up point at least two minutes ahead of your booked time, your vehicle could be a little early, so you need to be ready.
We cannot wait past the pick-up time as doing so means we can’t stay on time for other passengers. You will need to rebook a new trip if you have missed your pick-up.
