News flash for On Board with Orbus, your source of news and information about Dunedin and Queenstown's bus networks and the Bee Card 🐝🚍

We have lots of news for you from asking for feedback on fares, to getting the Bee Card on Queenstown Ferries.
Thanks as always for staying on board with us during this difficult year, and a big thank you to drivers too.

We plan to make On Board with Orbus a little more regular next year, so if you have any feedback on what you’d like us to include, email comms@orc.govt.nz.

Have your say on the future of public transport

Right now, for our Dunedin bus users, we are asking about our fares, frequency and timing of buses, to understand how we can make Orbus better for you and encourage more people to use the bus.

In 2018, 3.4% people in Dunedin said they travelled to work by bus. We want to shift the number toward 8% by 2030. While it doesn’t sound like a lot, it will have a major impact on our roads and our carbon emissions.

Go to the link below to fill out our online survey and be in to win Bee Card credit!

www.orc.govt.nz/orbusdnfeedback22The survey closes in less than a week on 24 November 2022.

If you're in Queenstown - don't worry, we'll be asking for feedback from you in the new year.
Half price fares to end early next year

Currently, the bus fare for a ride is half the normal fare due to the Government's half-priced fares scheme. This is due to end on 31 January 2023.

The normal adult bus fare will once again be $3 cash or $2 using a Bee Card, and this will be reinstated from 1 February 2023.

Bee on board on Lake Whakatipu

Did you know, you can now use your Orbus Bee Card on the Queenstown Ferries service on Lake Whakatipu?

ORC launched its Bee Card in September 2020 and since mid-2021 has been part-subsidising the lake ferry operator Queenstown Ferries, which is owned and operated by RealNZ.

Now you can hop from bus to boat with ease. Find out about fares and more here.

Route 3 Tainui St Kilda

We’re seeking feedback from residents, bus users and business owners on a proposed change to Orbus route 3 in Dunedin's Tainui St Kilda area.

The below map gives you an idea of the proposed changes. Jump online to see the explainer and have your say at www.orc.govt.nz/Orbus3. The survey closes at 11:59pm on 29 November 2022.

Check disruptions daily

Although the reduced timetable has brought about some stability, we are still faced with disruptions and driver illness.
We try to get the information online and on Transit as soon as we know. Keep up to date here:
1. Our public transport page on ORC website - check out Notifications and Alerts
2. Dunedin or Queenstown Orbus Facebook pages
3. Transit
4. Or call us. We are also available out of business hours on 0800 ORBUSDN (0800 672 8736) 0800 ORBUSQT (0800 672 8778).
