Welcome to the first official monthly On Board with Orbus newsletter for 2021, your source of news and information about Dunedin and Queenstown's bus network and the Bee Card.
What's in store for 2021
2020 involved a lot of change, from unprecedented safety requirements due to COVID-19 to launching the Bee Card.
This year, we are looking to update signage at the Bus Hub, draft and publish a new Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP), launch real time tracking in Dunedin and review it in Queenstown.
Several new buses are replacing older models in the fleet, too. We are working fast to get the Bee Card scanners installed and Orbus branding printed on these new buses.
Besides this monthly newsletter, a great place to keep up to date with news is via Facebook (see links in footer) or email transport@orc.govt.nz.
Otago now has the most registered Bee Cards out of the nine regions on the Bee system! Thanks for getting on board with the system 😊. Registering a card has a lot of benefits; topping up online (remember, it can take up to 12 hours to process), setting up an auto top up, managing your family’s cards, and easier replacement of funds if a card is lost/stolen.
It can take up to 12 hours for an online top up to process, so don't get caught out. Set an auto top up on your Bee Card when you reach a certain amount. How do you do it? Log into your account, select the card you want to add an auto top up on, select 'manage card' and select 'auto top up' at the right hand menu. Follow instructions and you're away. Find out more here.
Even though New Zealand is faring well in the COVID-19 pandemic, that can change. Please keep track of your travel by scanning the QR codes on the bus or keeping a manual entry. Though wearing a mask is not mandatory in Otago, it is a safe way to get around on public transport.
