We’ll be sharing the latest findings from our flood hazard assessment for the Strath Taieri area, including proposed flood protection measures for Middlemarch.
It’s your opportunity to:
Find more about the flood hazard assessments on the ORC Flood Defences page:
ORC safeguards local communities in Otago by managing flood protection and drainage assets. This includes 200+ kilometres of floodbanks, 12 pumping stations, 55 bridges, and culverts. Flood schemes minimize damage to property, livestock, and infrastructure, vital for Otago’s low-lying communities. Rising sea levels make this work even more urgent.
Middlemarch locals are invited to a community event on 3 June at the Strath Taieri Community Centre to hear about the latest findings of Otago Regional Council’s flood assessment and talk with members of ORC’s Natural Hazards team.
