ORC invites community feedback on planned bus ‘hub’ (interchange)

Media Release - 05 December 2016

The Otago Regional Council is inviting the Dunedin public to let it know how they want the planned Great King Street bus hub to look and feel.

ORC director corporate services Nick Donnelly said that all members of the community were welcome to drop into the Civic Centre lobby between 6 and 12 December for a chat about the plans for the bus hub, or to share their feedback online up until Christmas.

Details and images of the bus interchange plans to date will be exhibited in the Civic Centre lobby from 6 -12 December alongside an animated ‘drive-through’ that shows the concept as it stands.

Mr Donnelly said the council is keen to receive feedback on the look and feel of the bus hub, including landscaping and design features, as well as how bus service information should be provided. Public input on potential extra facilities is also being sought.

ORC chairman Stephen Woodhead said the bus hub was a major project which the council was keen for people to be well informed about, and to have an input into its layout and design.

“I hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to come and chat to our transport team at the drop-in sessions we have planned,” Mr Woodhead said.

All the information on display, including the animated drive-through, will also be available online at www.orc.govt.nz/bushub along with an online feedback form. The feedback period will run through until 24 December.
