Coming up in September

Get the latest on what Orbus will be rolling out in September!

Nominate your favourite bus driver

There are some stand-out drivers on the Orbus network. You know the ones – they are always friendly, they give a helping hand, they are patient and they do their best.

As of next month until the end of the year, we’ll be asking you to tell us who you think the best driver is. This is your chance to let us know which drivers you really like, and why.

When the campaign starts in September, you will have three weeks to cast your nomination. We will also ask the bus operators – Ritchies and Go Bus – to have a say. Collectively, we will choose one driver from each operator and announce them in the last week of the month.

Drivers will receive a ‘$50 meal only’ voucher from Bransons Bar and Eatery on Great King Street as a way to say thank you from you, their passengers.

We’ll have plenty of ways you can nominate your driver, from an online poll to simply calling us. If you think you already know who you would vote for, feel free to ask the name of your driver if you don’t know it already.

Now is the time to show your appreciation for those special drivers out there who perk up your day, or give you a hand when you need it.

Spring

Spring is around the corner, and that means warmer days, and lighter mornings. There is still the potential for bad weather, so keep a look out for alerts. Remember, for major delays and disruptions caused by weather you can find information on the Orbus Facebook page, My Little Local and via the 0800 ORBUSDN (0800 672 8736).

We want to thank everyone for their patience during the recent snow days.

Car Free Day

September is also the month where we celebrate the annual World Car Free Day.

This year it falls on Sunday 22 September, where we’ll be encouraging you to ditch the car and get onto a bus, jump on a bike or go by foot.

Did you know the car free movement has been going since the 1990s, but it was only in the last 10 years that countries adopted it as an official world-wide day to encourage motorists to give up the car?

Plan ahead for the day. Check out the journey planner on our website, use the My Little Local app, or our fold-out map to see what you can discover by bus on Car Free Day.

We’ll be the first ones on the bus across the world!
