Otago Regional Council is listening to the community feedback received about recent timetable changes in Dunedin and will look at options to address some of the issues raised.
On 1 October bus timetables in Dunedin changed with the aim of improving the overall service. The changes were made to ensure services run more reliably, support school connections and high-demand routes, and reflected actual travel times in different traffic conditions.
Changes were based on feedback collected from bus users over time and ORC’s analysis of running times and patronage.
We’ve received a lot of feedback from members of the community about some of the changes, and we have heard that some of the new bus times aren’t working for everyone, particularly for three routes – the morning services for Mosgiel to City, Harington Pt to City, and the late evening Port Chalmers bus.
Thank you to the bus users who have taken the time to contact ORC with their individual stories. Good public transport is important to us, and we need to hear from the people using it to make sure we’re delivering the best possible service.
Based on the feedback we’ve received, we acknowledge that some of the changes have had an impact on bus users or potential bus users. We are looking into concerns raised and whether there are any changes that can be made to services.
Our aim is to provide a safe and efficient service for the people of Dunedin. Public transport is well supported, and overall patronage numbers show that it is a service valued by our community.
