This paper updates Council on progress with the Head of Lake Wakatipu natural hazards adaptation project. The project area includes the communities of Glenorchy and Kinloch.
Following discussions at the 24 March 2021 Council Meeting in Oamaru, this paper responds to the Chair’s commitment to provide a staff paper to inform Council’s consideration of any development proposal. It outlines an approach to managing natural hazard risks throughout Otago, based on agreed principles, and explores how those principles might guide decision-making on future land uses at green-field or brown-field sites, notably Forbury Park in South Dunedin.
