The Opportunity

We are looking for a Manager Environmental Delivery Data and Systems to join our Environmental Delivery group on a permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week) basis, in our busy Dunedin office.

The purpose of this position is ensuring the efficient management of data and systems within the Environmental Delivery group. The role will include leading a team.

As a Manager Environmental Delivery Data and Systems, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership to the team to ensure their activities are aligned with the strategic goals of ORC
  • Coaching, mentoring, supporting and enabling staff to achieve agreed outcomes, and grow and develop in their roles
  • Developing and maintaining efficient, high-quality processes, policies, and procedures for cost effective data collection and processing
  • Ensuring resource consent compliance monitoring aligns with consent conditions and organisational priorities
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with other teams in ORC, Territorial Authorities and other regional councils
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the group's systems and reporting, ensuring information is accessible, meaningful, and effectively communicates performance, achievements, and the impact of our work.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s qualification in Environmental Management, Science or Information Science
  • A qualification in and/or significant experience in SQL reporting
  • 8+ years’ experience in the management of data and databases
  • 5+ years’ experience in a leadership capacity
  • 5+ years’ experience in local government
  • Experienced in the collection and analysis of Environmental data
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • A strong focus on customer service
