Give your feedback on the proposed Lower Mata-au/Clutha Catchment vision, key values and goals by 26 October.

Otago Regional Council is working with mana whenua and local communities to develop a Catchment Action Plan for the Lower Mata-au/Clutha*.

The plan will bring together local knowledge and science to identify what people value about the catchment, the changes they want to see, and practical actions that can improve its health over time. It is a long-term plan for working together and does not create new rules.

The Lower Mata-au/Clutha Integrated Catchment Group has been developing the plan through a series of workshops. We’re now checking in with the wider community on the values, vision and goals they have developed.

Your feedback will help us make any adjustments needed so the plan reflects your community. You can learn more about this Catchment Action Plan.

The survey is anonymous, and any personal information will not be made public. It should take approximately 5 minutes to complete, or 10 minutes if you have more to share with us.

Survey closes end of Monday, 26 October.

*We use both the traditional (Mata-au) and common (Clutha) spelling of Mata-au/Clutha.

What happens after the survey closes?

Once the survey closes, all feedback will be collated to make sure our Catchment Action Plan (CAP) reflects the wider community perspective.

A draft CAP will be developed. This draft CAP will then be available for public feedback before being finalised and presented to Council for endorsement.

Once endorsed, the focus will shift to putting the plan into action and establishing a Lower Mata-Au / Clutha Catchment Governance and Delivery Group — a community led governance group in partnership with mana whenua and supported by ORC that coordinates actions to improve the whole catchment.
