Size: 60.8 ha.

Altitude: 280–300 m above sea level.

Approximate location: 14 km North of the intersection of Makarora-Lake Hawea Road, Makarora.
NZTM (centre point): E1295520 N5086340.

Regional Plan: Water for Otago. Schedule 9 Regionally Significant Wetland, no.93, Map F1.

Territorial Authority: Queenstown Lakes District Council.

Important feeding and sheltering habitat for shoveller, Grey Duck (Anas superciliosa), Grey Teal (Anas gracilis) and Swamp Hen/Pukeko (Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus). Also used by waders Pied Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) and Oystercatchers (Haematopodidae). 1
