The Otago Regional Council is required under the Resource Management (National Environmental Standards for Air Quality) Regulations 2004 to report any breach of the ambient air quality standard.
The National Environmental Standard for 24-hour PM10 is 50 micrograms of particulate per cubic metre of air (mg/m3). PM10 concentrations in July 2015 exceeded the standard as follows:
