The Opportunity

We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our Transport team on a permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week) basis, in our busy Dunedin office.

The purpose of this position is to contribute to Otago Regional Council’s transport planning function through the development, maintenance, monitoring and review of transport policy, strategy, plans and business cases.

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing transport planning advice and undertake investigations of public transport issues
  • Providing input to and assist with development of ORC’s Long-Term Plan (LTP), Annual Plan and Annual Report and quarterly reporting
  • Ensuring effective integrated planning of land use and public transport
  • Supporting the development, review and monitoring of the Otago Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP)
  • Contributing to the GrowWell (Queenstown), Dunedin Future Development Strategy, Connecting Dunedin and Way2Go partnerships

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in public policy, public management, planning, humanities, business or law or equivalent experience
  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively
  • Ability to work in a complex work environment, deal with ambiguity and across functions
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Creative problem solver committed to continuous improvement
