The public are encouraged to attend Otago Regional Council’s next full Council meeting, being held in Cromwell this week on Wednesday, 26 November.
ORC Chair Hilary Calvert says the meeting will cover such diverse subjects as funding of flood control projects and consultation on a replacement navigation bylaws.
The meeting will also include consideration of the Terms of Reference of the new portfolio governance structure and appointments of councillors to various committees, she says.
There will be an update on process around developing ORC’s Annual Plan, 2026-27, including a timeline, a review of the Otago Navigation Safety Bylaw (2020), plus Council approval will be sought for funding agreements with Government which is part-funding [$4.7m of a total $7.8m) six Otago flood resilience projects.
At the start of the meeting there are three separate Public Forum speakers scheduled to present, including University of Otago staff talking about health issues arising from air quality in the region, and later on a presentation is scheduled by The Air Team from Kiwi Room at Clyde School on findings of their studies of Clyde township air quality.
The agenda is now available on-line at orc.govt.nz, under Your Council/Council meetings and Agendas and the meeting will be available live on ORC’s YouTube channel.
Councillors will on Thursday be making several site-visits to organisations and projects around the district, including the Wai Wānaka Alpine Lakes Forum and to Little Valley bridge, the lookout at Blacks Hill and Falls Dam.
