The Opportunity

We are looking for a Consent Planner – Public Enquiries to join our Consents team on a fixed term (13 months), full time (37.5 hours per week) basis, in our busy Dunedin office.

The purpose of this position is to provide timely and accurate responses to internal and external customer enquiries relating to consent activities in the Otago Region. The role will involve providing information to enquirers about consenting rules and pathways, permitted activities and pre-application advice.

As a Consent Planner – Public Enquiries, you will be responsible for:

  • Responding to internal and external enquiries in relation to resource consents
  • Advising and educating customers on resource consent processes
  • Clearly communicating ORC’s regional plans, and applicable national legislation
  • Assisting the Consent team by processing resource consents from time to time

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in any of the following; Environmental or Applied Science, Planning, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Geography/Earth Sciences, Agricultural Science.
  • Experienced in provision of advisory services pertaining to the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act
  • Experience in advocating/negotiating with internal and external stakeholders of an organisation
  • Strong organisational skills and processes
  • Sound computer skills, with the ability to learn how to use ORC databases systems
