How clean is the air we breathe in Wānaka?
Join the Air Quality Collective and Otago Regional Council for an evening exploring air quality and a new community-based research project launching this winter.
Air quality scientist Dr Ian Longley has spent more than 25 years helping communities understand the air in their homes, schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods.
At this public talk, Ian will share stories and insights from his work and discuss why understanding local air quality still matters.
During the session, Dr Longley will discuss:
This winter, the Air Quality Collective and Otago Regional Council are working alongside Te Kura O Take Kārara to better understand air quality in Wānaka.
Whether you're interested in environmental science, concerned about smoke or dust, or simply curious about the air you and your family breathe, we'd love to see you there.
Attendance is free and all are welcome.
Air quality science monitors the tiny particles in our air that can harm health, particularly in vulnerable groups. Weather influences their dispersion, often peaking during cold, calm conditions.
Clean air is fundamental to the health of our families and the health of our region.
