Through 2021–2024 the Otago Regional Council developed a draft Land and Water Regional Plan (LWRP).

Originally scheduled to be considered for notification in October 2024, work on the draft Plan has been paused while new resource management legislation and a new national direction framework for managing our natural resources is being developed by the Government.

We are not seeking any feedback on the draft Plan at this time. Once we understand the new direction from Government, we will provide clarity on what the next steps will be, and any opportunities for feedback.

We would like to sincerely thank mana whenua, the community, and all stakeholders for your input and support over the past six years. Your contributions have been vital to shape the draft plan.

Incorporated material for LWRP

The Resource Management Act includes a requirement that the council inform the public of documents that are to be incorporated by reference in the proposed Otago Land and Water Regional Plan. This process gives the public an opportunity to comment on the documents selected. The types of documents incorporated by reference include accepted standards, papers produced by central government and iwi partners, and ORC plans and bylaws.
