Habitat for Shoveller and Grey Duck (Anas superciliosa), Grey Teal (Anas gracilis), Oystercatcher (Haematopodidae), Pied Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Black Stilt (Himantopus novaezelandiae). Also visited by Royal Spoonbill (Platalea regia), Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) and White Heron (Egretta alba modesta) and Banded Dotterel (Charadrius bicinctus). 1

Other Information

  • Part of the area includes QEII covenant 5/12/026. A management statement was prepared in 1994.

  • All Day Bay Lagoon is listed as an Area of Significant Indigenous Vegetation and Habitat of Indigenous Fauna in the Waitaki District Plan. Described as coastal lagoon with saltmarsh, includes species Carex sp., Scirpus sp., Cotula coronopifolia, glasswort (Sarcocornia quinqueflora).

  • Wader species recorded include Pied Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Banded Dotterel (Charadrius bicinctus), Royal Spoonbill (Platalea regia) and White Heron (Egretta alba modesta). Large and high diversity of waterfowl.
