SUCCESSION PLAN WORKSHOPS | APRIL 2025

Kia ora,

Toitū Te Hakapupu project partners Kāti Huirapa ki Rūnaka Puketeraki and Otago Regional Council, along with collaborators East Otago Catchment Group and the Pleasant River Community, have engaged Otago Catchment Community to facilitate a Succession Plan through two workshops to ensure the ongoing success of our mahi.

Session One: Tuesday, 8 April, 4.00pm–7.30pm
Waikouaiti Event Centre, 203 Main Road, Waikouaiti 9510

Session Two: Monday, 28 April, 4.00pm–7.30pm
Waihemo Lodge Hotel, 13 Runbrake Street Palmerston 9430

Over the course of this project, some incredible milestones have been achieved:

  • $5.2 million invested
  • 32 km of riparian fencing installed
  • 68,000 native plants established (with 25,000 more to be planted)
  • Development of a Community Catchment Action Plan
  • Fish passage improvements
  • Community events
  • Robust water quality monitoring

It is now up to us all to build on those successes as the project winds up on 30 June 2025, and collectively work toward our vision:

“Healthy wai — healthy whenua — healthy tangata / A flourishing catchment and community”

To plan for this vision, we must do so together.

Workshop Details:

In Session One, we will reflect on what has been accomplished and generate ideas to continue the project’s legacy.

In Session Two, we will refine these ideas into a clear, community-driven succession plan with achievable actions. It is beneficial to attend both sessions.

We will use a facilitated collaborative process to ensure all voices are heard and respected.

This structured approach will:

  • Encourage full participation by creating a safe and inclusive environment
  • Reflect on past achievements and lessons learned
  • Brainstorm and evaluate ideas for long-term action
  • Develop a shared plan forward ensuring the collective vision is upheld

Your input is invaluable!

By attending, you’ll help shape the future of our collective efforts to protect and enhance our catchment.
