Adopted: Annual Plan 2020-21

After much discussion over the past couple of months, with you and in committees, yesterday our councillors adopted the Annual Plan 2020-21. It comes into effect on 1 July 2020.

Thank you again for your input, our council heard you and acted accordingly. Some of the changes and considerations you'll see are:

  1. Funding our work programmes differently this year to reduce the amount we're asking you to pay:
    • General rates increase: 0%
    • Average total rates increase: 2.3%
  2. Additional 1.0 FTE Civil Defence and Emergency Management staff in Queenstown Lakes on a one-year fixed-term contract.
  3. Meeting the concerns regarding possum control in Otago, given OSPRI's upcoming departure.
  4. Presenting a report exploring how ORC can assist an integrated trail network throughout Otago.
  5. Investigating how we can support Orokanui Ecosanctuary in the replacement of their predator free fence.
  6. In addition to delivering an assessment in 2020-21 of the region's and ORC's greenhouse gas emissions we will also consider carbon footprint accounting options.
  7. Increasing our contribution to control Lagarosiphon with a review of the effectiveness of the current operational approach.
  8. Cost analysis of a Tomahawk Management Plan going into our Long-term Plan.
  9. Ensuring community consultation takes place with regard to the design, cost and intended outcomes for infrastructure on drainage schemes.
  10. Including the Wakatipu ferry trial, subject to partner funding.
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know your thoughts on what we should do this coming year.
