Adopted: Annual Plan 2020-21
After much discussion over the past couple of months, with you and in committees, yesterday our councillors adopted the Annual Plan 2020-21. It comes into effect on 1 July 2020.
Thank you again for your input, our council heard you and acted accordingly. Some of the changes and considerations you'll see are:
- Funding our work programmes differently this year to reduce the amount we're asking you to pay:
- General rates increase: 0%
- Average total rates increase: 2.3%
- Additional 1.0 FTE Civil Defence and Emergency Management staff in Queenstown Lakes on a one-year fixed-term contract.
- Meeting the concerns regarding possum control in Otago, given OSPRI's upcoming departure.
- Presenting a report exploring how ORC can assist an integrated trail network throughout Otago.
- Investigating how we can support Orokanui Ecosanctuary in the replacement of their predator free fence.
- In addition to delivering an assessment in 2020-21 of the region's and ORC's greenhouse gas emissions we will also consider carbon footprint accounting options.
- Increasing our contribution to control Lagarosiphon with a review of the effectiveness of the current operational approach.
- Cost analysis of a Tomahawk Management Plan going into our Long-term Plan.
- Ensuring community consultation takes place with regard to the design, cost and intended outcomes for infrastructure on drainage schemes.
- Including the Wakatipu ferry trial, subject to partner funding.
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know your thoughts on what we should do this coming year. |
